High School Course Description

CHOIR I-V

Grade Level(s):  9, 10, 11, 12

Prerequisite(s): None

Course Description:  Choir is designed for students who have previous choir experience (school, community, church, etc.).  The students will study a wide variety of choral music containing 2-4 parts and will perform several times during the term.  Students will learn basic music theory as well as obtain and/or expand their music reading ability.  All students in the class are required to participate in all rehearsals and performances after school for the ensembles in which they perform.

BAND I-V

Grade Level(s):  9, 10, 11, 12

Prerequisite(s):  None

Course Description:  Band Levels I and II are designed for the student with two or more year’s instrumental experience.  The course will expand on the students’ instrumental knowledge with an emphasis on performance ability.  Class instruction includes theory, scales, interpretation, and performance, and Levels III-IV will broaden the students’ instrumental knowledge with emphasis on advanced performance ability.  Class instruction includes advanced theory, major and minor scales, interpretation, and performance.


GUITAR I-IV

Course Description:  The course covers basic music reading, chords, musical terms and symbols.
