As we approach the conclusion of the first semester, I wish to extend to staff, students and parents a warm holiday greeting and wish that you all have a wonderful holiday season.
Events that will be taking place in Craig County Public Schools over the next several weeks are the following:
- Friday, December 2, is an Early Dismissal for students at 12:30 P.M. for a teacher workday.
- High school students will be taking SOL tests for the first semester's End-Of-Course classes and first semester exams.
- The SOL testing window begins on December 15 and concludes on January 12 with make–up tests scheduled for January 13 and 16.
- High School Exams will be on January 17 and 18.
- Semester Break will be January 19 and 20, 2012, weather permitting.
I wish all students much success on both their SOLs and their exams.
The Holiday break will be from December 21 – January 2 with an early dismissal on December 20 at 12:30 P.M. School will resume on Tuesday, January 3, 2012.
Our inclement weather messenger system will be used again this year to announce school delays and closings. Attempts will be made to send notifications by 6:00 A.M., so that staff, students and parents are aware of any delays or closings. If there is no message sent, schools are on a regular school day schedule. In cases of early dismissals due to deteriorating weather conditions, notifications will be sent as soon as possible after a decision is made. Decisions are based on safety as a top priority.
I would like to thank all staff, students and parents for your support as we continue to work together for the best education of our students.
