CCPS students from Preschool to 12th grade will have a lockdown drill in the next few days. This is a routine drill. Thank you!

Good evening! Craig County Public Schools will be closed Thursday, August 8th and Friday, August 9th due to the tropical storm event and potential flash flooding. The new first day of school will be Monday, August 12, 2024. The staggered start for kindergarten students is still in effect starting Monday. All sports activities are cancelled during this time. All eleven and twelve month employees should report to work at the normal time tomorrow morning.

VDH will be onsite at back to school open house from 3pm-6pm to offer GRADE 7 AND GRADE 12 ONLY VACCINES. Insurance cards will be required.


Any CCPS student playing fall sports should attend a meeting in the CCHS auditorium at 6:00 pm on August 6, 2024. Please ensure that both the student and a parent are present.

Craig County Public Schools will be hosting the following events on Tuesday, August 6, 2024: The PreK / Kindergarten Open House will begin at 10:00 am in the auditorium. McCleary, CCMS, and CCHS will host an Open House from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The first day of school for all CCPS students is on August 8, 2024. We are looking forward to seeing you there!

We would like to thank everyone for their hard work and dedication during last week's One School, One Book event at McCleary Elementary. We hope that your child had fun while gaining a deeper passion for reading and family engagement.
We would also like to inform families that a reported incident that occured Friday night has been thoroughly investigated by school officials and the Craig County Sheriff's office. There was no credible threat made and no risk to school safety found. We appreciate the communities understanding and patience in allowing time for the investigative process and management of the situation.
We would also like to remind families that all schools will be closed beginning March 25, 2024 through April 1, 2024 for Spring Break. We hope you have a blessed Easter Season!
