Craig County Public Schools will be closed today, Monday March 16, 2026 (Employee Code 1). This decision, made out of an abundance of caution, is due to the unpredictability of today's forecasted weather and after consultation with the National Weather Service and local emergency management officials.

We also invite all stakeholders (parents, staff, students, community members, etc.) of Craig County Public Schools to attend a budget meeting on Wednesday March 18, 2026 at 5:30PM in the CCHS Auditorium.

At this time, the division is facing the possibility of substantial budget constraints, and we strongly encourage community members, staff, parents, and students to attend this meeting.

We are currently holding our BTEC bus in place due to weather conditions. Please note that when road conditions clear we will transport all students. No student will be counted absent and all students will receive lunch.

Shout out to Corey Smith for his willingness to help with campus projects whenever asked. He and his classes do their very best to help with renovation, building, and set up projects. They are presently building musical sets, revamping the CCPS entry signs, and working on outside enhancement projects. Mr. Smith creatively teaches agriculture competencies while supporting the building needs of our campus!

Craig County High School Job Fair on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.

Craig County Public Schools is currently monitoring the weather conditions moving through our area. At this time, forecasts indicate that the system should exit the region prior to our normal school dismissal. Based on the current information available, we do not anticipate the need for an early dismissal.

We will continue to monitor conditions closely and will communicate any changes if necessary. Thank you for your continued support and patience.

Our February Employee of the Month keeps the wheels on the bus and the money in the right accounts! This person manages to keep track of every dollar while also keeping the rest of us in line when it comes to fundraisers, field trips, and all the paperwork that comes with them. This person is always willing to jump in wherever help is needed and is the one who keeps us laughing along the way with her never-ending humor. Whether they are solving a problem, answering a million questions, or reminding us (again) about the right way to do something, this person does it all with patience and a smile. This person manages a wide range of responsibilities with accuracy and efficiency, helping ensure the smooth operation of each building. They consistently go above and beyond their assigned duties, willingly assisting wherever help is needed across the division. Their reliability, collaborative spirit, and positive attitude make her an invaluable asset to the entire school community. Our school and division runs a whole lot smoother because of them, and we’re lucky to have this person. Craig County Public Schools is pleased to recognize Kim Wolfe as our February Employee of the Month.

We apologize for the confusion but today, March 2, 2026, will be a Virtual Learning day for all students. Elementary students need to complete work in their Virtual Learning Day packets. Middle/High School students need to complete their Virtual Learning Day lessons on their Chromebooks and stay in email contact with their teachers as needed.
